NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks were lower in early afternoon trading Tuesday as strong Walt Disney Co. earnings were offset by a warning from homebuilder Toll Brothers and a series of cost savings measures from General Motors Corp. that failed to impress investors.
